During June and July we were running a promotion for Engen that was the culmination of an almost 2 year long African Welcome campaign. One of the channels that we used was Mxit – with close on 20 millions users it’s a channel that you cannot ignore. With any digital channel though, a key to participation is understanding how the people are using it, and fitting in with that as best you can – being a part of the conversation rather than just another message on their screen.
As the campaign progressed we made some interesting learnings. The presentation below (put together by Eshaam Rabaney) explains the challenges we faced, how we overcame them and some of the results we achieved.
